Is it a good idea to leave a border collie in a drawer for about an hour and a half each night?

When we got our dog, we realized that was prone to steal food from us. So when we have dinner usually put in the cage with plenty of water, chewing and some candy. The coaching classes training was recommended as a session of 'Time Out'. I also read about it in 'me or the dog "by Victoria Stilwell. No However, an owner of a dog with experience told us that if you can work with other dogs, Border Collies is quickly leading the way toward damaging behavior. Is this true? Should we find another method? Any suggestions?

Packaging, while consumption is fine, but I leave it there for a hour and a half, just at the time of consumption. "Waiting times" should be short maybe 5 to 10 minutes maximum. If you've read or seen Victoria program then you know that is not really on crate training. I actually find very useful tools. Crate training will not make a Border Collie destructive, lack of training, exercise and socialization are the main causes of this. Try perimeter training, instead of the dog at the door where you can see, and put in a room below. Sitting at the table with a sandwich for you and lots of gifts for him. If your stay is lifted correct verbal and take it back the place and put back in a sit stay do this every time it breaks. Count to 10 a shot to deal with it, take a bite of sandwich, have another 10 to launch another treatment. when you finish the sandwich, and if he is still in place Jack Pot will treat you with the rest of praise and release tense. This will take a little time, patience and consistency of all in the family, but the work

      Dog Training Aid man?

I have a Samoyed 13 years male. The seventh was for my birthday. As I was very young my father trained him, but my dad violence as a means of discipline. He had kicked my dog ??when he is angry, slap, etc. When I was old enough to do something about it I used to have between my father and the dog. My dad was about 3 years ago. Since then the dog has become more and more disobedient. In part because I wanted to scream at what I do not want to suffer more. Also, while I was in college I had to leave the house my mother and she really does not correct it. It is also more or less deaf. You can hear whistles, but that's all. I really want to train as their behavior is getting out of hands. 13 years is still very active. I was wondering is there any hope to train him at this age? Please help, I love my dog ??and only want have the best life possible.

With your dog is almost deaf, you can still train, but must be trained using hand signals and rewards. Try this with the simple commands in the interior that has more control over their actions. Only after the success with which they want to move to an outdoor setting. Remember to always strap him to control and small rewards for good actions or better. Best of luck.

What should I do with my children's behavior toward the family dog?

We have an 8 year old Italian Spinone called Rio, when I first dog my son was so happy and were great friends of my son years. But recently completed 15 years of age and seems to have lost interest in Rio, when I ask him to take the dog for a walk just ignores me when it comes to playing with my son Rio turned, and if Rio is to ask my son just put the poor creature in eye.I I talked to my son and asked why do these bad things but they either ignore me or yell at me, my husband is not able to help in any way because he has cancer child and spends most of his time sleeping and when awake is very quiet and distant.Could be the reason?

I think you may be doing this in the wrong section. This is not about the dog, it's your son and he is quiet (sort of) acting because it has many more things on his mind than they are aware of. Children, more than girls, do not talk about what's on your mind. At least about serious problems. If you are referring to cancer as "minor" the family, then you may come across that you can not talk about his concern because that is not part of a concern (in the eyes). Being a hormonal teenager makes everything much worse. You have to talk to him about it. Although it does not look like he is engaged in conversation, not to say that is not listening. Just keep talking about it until he sees his opening to talk about how you feel about it. By the way, I do not think you have to get rid of the dog. Just get to the bottom of the matter. One day, when it's really annoying that you can find some comfort in his old friend, the dog. Meanwhile, do not force him to interact with the dog. That there be and spend more time with the dog.

Can you recommend a good book on cat behavior / psychology of the people not cat?

Can you please recommend a good book that I can to my friend about cats? It's not a cat person, and seems to think that cats are small dogs and their behavior can change the way a dog can. It is not working (of course), but tends to respect the opinions of experts, does a good book would be helpful.

Most likely you have not read it. Dr. Michael Fox has several books at a good cat. Ask your uncle if he would consider the formation of a cow as a horse or a rabbit and a dog. The different species learn different ways. A dog has training pack mentality that solitary hunters, like cats do not even recognize. This site Messybeast, with case studies the behavior of cats and their learning processes. Very good things out there. # Http://www.messybeast.com/catarchive.htm health

My Jack Russell dog bolts the door and runs away.?

How I can stop this behavior? She will be at the door when you tell him to stay of the time. When screws we have to pursue his motorcycle on which to get back. We live rural, but a major road is about 1 mile away. Help!

The simplest would be to make a strong fence. There are a few ways to train a dog that did not. A coach would be the kindest clicker method. You can find online clicker trainers. There are also plenty of books Dogwise training, www.dogwise.com. Search in "behavior problems" and see what books cover "the door running."

bark collar that of a small dog?

I have a miniature schnauzer that is a little over a year old. Barks constantly people out of the window or if someone has come into my apartment. We tried everything to get him to stop. just started using a spray bottle and spray when he screamed, but did not. So we went to a behavior modification class and trained with him. He remembers all the tricks you taught him (sitting, be turned down when he says he needs out, shake, etc), but it still barks at people. I do not know what to do, my apartment manager told me that needed to get it to stop barking. So my question is what kind of bark collar that I receive. I do not like the idea of ??getting the one, but I feel like my only option. So, what kind? o What else should I try?

Hi Heather, I'm sorry. It is natural for all dogs to bark, but annoying barking is a problem for us all. Have you tried crust? This is an ultrasonic device that fits in your pocket and very easy to use. It's only $ 10! Voucher worth a try and hope it helps. Good luck. Thanks
